MediaTek Helio G85:

Over the last few years, MediaTek is leading in the mobiles chip market, but in 2020 the company has gone so far with the record-breaking new chipsets. We’ve seen some amazing chipsets like MediaTek Dimensity 1000, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 which tops the antutu 9 benchmarks, and MediaTek Dimensity 1100 which was launched in Foco X3 GT and many more smartphones. Now we have the full specs and full complete details of the MediaTek Helio G85, let’s start off with the benchmarks

AnTuTu 9:

CPU 72027
GPU 38422
Memory 55478
UX 64300
Total score 230050

MediaTek Helio G85 shows the best Antutu 9 scores. We can see the big jump in the GPU performance. The total performance of the GPU is 38422, which is slower than the Snapdragon 695. The CPU also shows one of the best scores. It is 72027 which is a bit slower than the Snapdragon 695. The memory scores also show a significant boost. Helio G85 memory is faster than Snapdragon 680, and Snapdragon 678. The Ux is also showing one of the best performances. It is 64300, which is faster than Snapdragon 665, and Snapdragon 675. MediaTek Helio G85 total scores are above 230050. It will depend on which smartphones manufacturers using this chipset with which type of ram. Helio G85 is considerably gaining a performance boost and beating every processor in the Mid-rand category.

Geekbench 5:

Single-Core Score 357
Multi-Core Score 1260

The single-core scores show the best performance in this smartphone mid-range category lineup. The single-core scores are 357. And the multi-core scores are 1260 which is also good at this point.

CPU:

Architecture 2x 2 GHz – Cortex-A75
6x 1.8 GHz – Cortex-A55
Cores 8
Frequency 2000 MHz
Instruction set ARMv8-A
Process 12 nanometers
TDP 5 W

MediaTek Helio G85 launched with the Big 2 cores of Cortex-A75 which are ultra-high performance cores that are clocked on 2.0 GHz. The other 6 cores are based on Cortex-A55 which is a power efficiency core. There is a little disappointment that why they haven’t used the Cortex X1 or X2. But the Cortex-A75 also has the best speeds and good set instruction architecture. There are total of 8 cores with a boost clock of 2.0 GHz. Helio G85 has the latest set instruction architecture. It is not considered fast but it is strong enough to beat some of the latest and most powerful Chipsets. MediaTek Helio G85 is fabricated on 12Nm. This means MediaTek Helio G85 will be not power efficient and will consume more battery and will produce more heat. The TDP shows 5 watts.

Graphics:

GPU name Mali-G52 MP2
Architecture Bifrost
GPU frequency 1000 MHz
Execution units 2
Shading units 32
FLOPS 54 Gigaflops
Vulkan version 1.0
OpenCL version 2.0
DirectX version 12

MediaTek Helio G85 has a new architecture-based GPU. Bifrost is the new architecture that they are using in the MediaTek Helio G85. The GPU is also manufactured using the 12Nm technology. Which means it will also be power efficient. The name of the GPU is Mali-G52 MP2. This is the fastest GPU in this lineup. The Helio G85 is fast enough to handle games like FREE FIRE, and PUBG MOBILE. The GPU score is faster than the MediaTek Helio G85 which means there will be a smooth gaming experience on this chipset. The GPU is clocked at 1000MHz. The shading units are also 32 which will help in rendering the graphics in gaming. There is also DirectX support of 12 which means this processor will support the latest games without any bugs and delays.

Memory:

Memory type LPDDR4X
Memory frequency 1800 MHz
Bus 2x 16 Bit
Max bandwidth 13.41 Gbit/s
Max size 8 GB

MediaTek Helio G85 uses the new LPDDR4x ram with the memory frequency of 1866MHz and uses the bus of 2×32. The ram may be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers, like XIAOMI, REALME, VIVO, etc. The memory frequency is also going to be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers. The max memory bandwidth is 13.41Gbit/s which is also faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 which was used in Realme 9i. The max memory size is 8GB.

Support:

Neural processor (NPU) Neural Engine
Storage type eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1
Max display resolution 2520 x 1080
Max camera resolution 1x 48MP, 2x 16MP
Video capture 2K at 30FPS
Video playback 2K at 30FPS

MediaTek Helio G85 uses its own Neural Engine which is fast with AI calculations. MediaTek Helio G85 uses the UFS 2.1 which is fast. This gives you fast read and writing speeds.

MediaTek Helio G85 has the maximum display support of FullHD+ and can support the 120Hz refresh rate with the super Amoled. Helio G85 is going to be very aggressive when it comes to a camera support. It supports a camera up to 48MP. The video capture is kept on 2k at 30FPS and the video playback is also 2k at 30FPS. There is no 4K 30Fps support on this MediaTek Helio G85. Which is a bit of a shame to see there is no 4K 30Fps support on a 2022 mid-range Chipset.

Connectivity:

5G support No
Wi-Fi 5
Bluetooth 5.0

MediaTek Helio G85 has no 5G support. The MediaTek Helio G85 also comes with the wi-fi 5 and the Bluetooth version of 5.0. This will give you better signals and better speeds. MediaTek Helio G85 uses its own modem. It is not fast as the X25 but it gives you good speeds.

The gaming experience on this chipset is going to be a little faster than the MediaTek Helio G85. This chipset is combined with the 2 Big A75 cores, which boosts the performance. With 2 big Cortex A-76 cores, there are also going to be a few issues with heating. The frequency of this chipset is 2.0 GHz, which is good for long-term gaming. This chipset also support the LPDDR4x ram. This means there will be no issues with using this chipset in a long-term gaming session. This chipset also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This will help in smooth performance with low latency. This chipset is can support PUBG MOBILE at 60FPS, this is because of the scores of the GPU.
