This display is faster and accurate with 90Hz support. The display is a good upgrade from the last-gen OPPO 8 because it’s 90Hz. The gaming experience is also going to be good because of its 90Hz refresh rate and also the content watching will be good with deep blacks and high contrast ratio. Thanks to DCIP3 technology. Oppo F21 Pro is using the SUPER AMOLED panel. Which is good and can deliver faster performance with no touch lag issuers. The display is also protected by the Gorilla Glass 5. Screen to body ratio is 84.2%, this will give you thinner bezels at the bottom. The display ratio is 20:9 which means content watching will be amazing if you are watching Netflix or YouTube.

DESIGN & BUILD:

Thickness 7.5 mm (0.3 inches)

OPPO is known for its amazing new premium designs. Oppo F21 Pro has a similar design to the OPPO Reno 8 and Pro. but with new textures on the back. The rear is made of plastic and the frame is made of plastic too, which makes it a little lighter than other Midrange smartphones. There’s no IP68 water and dust resistance in this Oppo F21 Pro. The phone is protected by a plastic frame that’s why it makes it lighter by 175 grams. Talking about the design, the Camera bump takes up a little space for the camera itself. I mean we are talking about a nice camera bump of this phone. The camera bump looks familiar with the OPPO Reno 8. The fingerprint scanner, it’s located in the in-display and has some amazing speeds because of the new ultrasonic sensor in the display.

Performance:

Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 680
Max. clock 2400 MHz
CPU cores 8 (4 + 4)
Architecture – 4 cores at 1.8 GHz: Kryo 265 Silver (Cortex-A53)

Oppo F21 Pro is launching with the new chipset, which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. These higher performance cores make the phone experience much smoother with the 90Hz display. The gaming experience is also on another level with the new cooling system in this smartphone. The Adreno 610 is one of the most powerful GPUs in the midrange category, which makes the Oppo F21 Pro faster than other Midrange smartphones. I already published a complete article on this chipset you can check that out here Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. We will talk about the AnTuTu 9 scores in a minute but first, let’s take a look at the memory and storage.

MEMORY AND STORAGE:

RAM size 8 GB
Memory type LPDDR4X
Memory clock 2133 MHz
Channels 2
Storage size 128 GB
Storage type UFS 2.2
Memory card MicroSD
Memory card max. size Up to 512 GB

Oppo F21 Pro is launching with 1 variant of ram and 1 variant of storage which are 8GB RAM of ram. And with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, the performance will be much smoother. The ram is LPDR4X with a memory frequency of 2133MHz. Oppo F21 Pro has only 128GB of storage which is based on UFS 2.2 storage. Which will load the apps much faster. There is also an SD card support which is awesome because you can get a 512GB SD card and to expand your storage.

Benchmarks:

Antutu 9 Benchmarks

CPU 86582
GPU 50350
Memory 73914
UX 79973
Total score 293011

Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 has fewer scores than the last Gen OPPO 7. OPPO 7 was using MediaTek Helio G95  which has slightly better GPU and CPU performance. But this processor is also good in terms of performance. The total score of this processor is 293011. Which are a little bit higher than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675. Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 is gaining a performance boost and beating the last-gen MediaTek Dimensity 8000 processor. In the Midrange segment, this processor is best for gaming, camera, battery, display, and everything. You will experience a much smoother touch, opening, and closing of apps.

Software:

Operating system Android 12
ROM ColorOS 12.1

The Oppo F21 Pro is going to be launching with Android 12 straight out of the box. Which is more customizable than the Android 11 and has tons of new features. This new custom ROM is optimized well with new cool animations and wallpapers. This new ColorOS 12.1 fix old bugs like touch lags, camera app improvements, new layouts, improved dark mode, and a new gaming turbo engine. OPPO is known for its good software optimization with its new custom ROM.

Battery:

Capacity 4500 mAh
Charge power 33 W
Battery type Li-Po
Replaceable No
Wireless charging No
Reverse charging Yes
Fast charging Yes (50% in 30 min)
Full charging time 1:10 hr

Oppo F21 Pro comes with 33 Watts of the charger in the box. Which can fully charge the Oppo F21 Pro in just 75 minutes which is good. There is no wireless charging support. The charging speeds are good that on 30 minutes of charge this Oppo F21 Pro can last up to 8 hours thanks to that massive 4500MAh battery. Oppo F21 Pro is a full-day phone I mean this phone can last all day long. This phone has a power-efficient processor which makes the battery cooler and the processor takes less TDP, so this also leads to good battery life.

MAIN CAMERA:

Matrix 64 megapixels
Image resolution 9248 x 6936
Zoom Digital
Flash LED
Stabilization Digital
8K video recording No
4K video recording No
1080p video recording Up to 30FPS

Oppo F21 Pro has 3 cameras at the back and the main camera is a huge upgrade from the last-gen OPPO 8. The Oppo F21 Pro main Camera is 64 megapixels and had a brand new camera sensor from Samsung which is Sony IMX709 F/1.7. What makes this camera setup even more awesome is that this camera lens is combined with the wide aperture of F/1.7 and has a big size, the wider the aperture the more light will it collect and the more sharp the image quality will be. Well, one of the worst downgrades from the OPPO 7 is the ability to record at 4K. I mean why give a huge sensor with amazing performance and it cannot even record at 4K. I’m so disappointed by this. This Oppo F21 Pro can record video only at 1080P at 60 FPS. You can’t record 4K at 30FPS. The Oppo F21 Pro has 2 more camera lenses. Let’s talk about that in detail.

Lenses:

Wide (main) lens – 64 MP
– Aperture: f/1.7
– Focal length: 26 mm
– Pixel size: 0.8 micron
– Sensor: 1/2.74″, Sony IMX709 (Exmor-RS CMOS)
– Phase autofocus
Macro lens – 2 MP
– Aperture: f/3.3
Depth lens – 2 MP
– Aperture: f/2.4
Camera features – Bokeh mode
– Pro mode

As I mentioned above that this 64 MP sensor is good. But this Oppo F21 Pro has 2 more camera lenses. There is another camera sensor of 2MP which is a macro lens. This Oppo F21 Pro has an amazing camera design, but with no extra capabilities. There is another 2MP macro camera which is useless in the most situations because it’s only 2MP.

SELFIE CAMERA:

Megapixels 32 megapixels
Image resolution 6560 x 4928
Aperture f/2.4
Focal length 24 mm
Pixel size 0.8 microns
Sensor type CMOS
Sensor size 1/2.74″
Video resolution 1080p (Full HD) at 30 FPS

When it comes to selfie cameras the Oppo F21 Pro has a single punch whole camera of 32MP which has the largest pixels. This single-punch whole camera contains some awesome details when it comes to daytime shots. At night time this camera sensor struggles a little bit because its aperture is F/2.4 which means the photos will look accurate and will have nice skin tons and nice dynamic range, also this camera will suffer a little at night because the sensor is not that wide to capture more light. The camera video capabilities are also kept at 1080P at 30FPS only.

Connectivity:

Wi-Fi standard Wi-Fi 5
Bluetooth version 5.1
USB type USB Type-C
NFC* No

This Oppo F21 Pro is launching with the Wi-Fi 5 which is faster, more efficient, and gives you less latency when compared to the Wi-Fi 4. Which will make the user experience smoother and faster. There is also the support of Bluetooth 5.1. Which is also faster and more efficient than version 5.0. Oppo F21 Pro has USB type C Gen 2.0 support. It will helps with the data transfer because it helps with the faster read and write speeds. Oppo F21 Pro also has No NFC support.

SOUND:

Speakers Mono
Headphone audio jack Yes
FM radio No

The Oppo F21 Pro comes with a mono speaker. This Oppo F21 Pro has average sound quality. Which is not good for a mid-range smartphone I mean Xiaomi is giving Stereo speakers with Dolby Atoms support and this phone has only one speaker. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack which is a good option for gamers.

Colors:

Colors Black, Orange

The Oppo F21 Pro is going to lunch in three different colors Black, Orange. OPPO is known for its premium colors with good contexts. I like the black color because it looks better than these two colors.

Price:

This smartphone is costing around $250 which is way cheaper than the other smartphones in this category.

Final Thoughts:

If you are looking for a good Midrange phone, good gaming phone, good design, good display, and amazing performance then this Oppo F21 Pro is worth buying. Because it has all the needs that a good consumer needs.
