Qualcomm Snapdragon 690:

Over the last few years, Qualcomm Snapdragon is leading in the mobile chip market, but in 2020 the company has gone so far with the record-breaking new chipsets. We’ve seen some amazing chipsets like MediaTek Dimensity 1100, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 1 that tops the antutu 9 benchmarks, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that was launched in XIAOMI 11T Pro, and many more smartphones. Now we have the full specs and full complete details of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690, let’s start off with the benchmarks.

AnTuTu 9:

CPU 110385
GPU 76645
Memory 63724
UX 94636
Total score 344821

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 shows the best Antutu 9 scores. We can see the big jump in the CPU and GPU  performance. The total performance of the GPU is 76645, which is slower than the Snapdragon 732G. The CPU also shows one of the best scores. It is 110385 which is a bit slower than the Snapdragon 765G. The memory scores also show a significant boost. Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 memory is faster than Snapdragon 732G, and Snapdragon 720G. The Ux is also showing one of the best performances. It is 94636, which is faster than Snapdragon 732G, and Snapdragon 720G. Total scores are above 344821. It will depend on which smartphone manufacturers using this chipset with which type of ram. Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is considerably gaining a performance boost and beating every processor in the Mid-rand category.

Geekbench 5:

Single-Core Score 605
Multi-Core Score 1826

The single-core scores show the best performance in this smartphone mid-range category lineup. The single-core scores are 706. And the multi-core scores are 2137 which is also good at this point.

CPU:

Architecture 2x 2 GHz – Kryo 560 Gold (Cortex-A77)
6x 1.7 GHz – Kryo 560 Silver (Cortex-A55)
Cores 8
Frequency 2000 MHz
Instruction set ARMv8.2-A
Process 8 nanometers
TDP 6 W

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 launched with the Big 2 cores of Cortex-A77 which are ultra-high performance cores that are clocked on 2.4 GHz. The other 6 cores is based on Cortex-A55 which is a power efficiency core. There is a little disappointment that why they haven’t used the Cortex X1 or X2. But the Cortex-A77 also has the best speeds and good set instruction architecture. There is a total of 8 cores with a boost clock of 2.4 GHz. Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 has the latest set instruction architecture. It is not considered fast but it is strong enough to beat some of the latest and most powerful Chipsets. Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is fabricated on 8Nm. This means Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 will be power efficient and will consume less battery and will produce less heat.

Graphics:

GPU name Adreno 619L
Architecture Adreno 600
GPU frequency 950 MHz
Execution units 2
Shading units 128
Vulkan version 1.1
OpenCL version 2.0
DirectX version 12

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 has new architecture based GPU. Adreno 600 is the new architecture that they are using in the Snapdragon 690. The GPU is also manufactured using the 8Nm technology. Which means it will also be power efficient. The name of the GPU is Adreno 619L. This is the fastest GPU in this lineup. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is fast enough to handle games like FREE FIRE, and PUBG MOBILE. The GPU score is faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 which means there will be a smooth gaming experience on this chipset. The GPU is clocked on 950MHz. The shading units are also 128 which will help in rendering the graphics in gaming. There is also DirectX support of 12 which means this processor will support the latest games without any bugs and delays.

Memory:

Memory type LPDDR4X
Memory frequency 2133 MHz
Bus 2x 16 Bit
Max bandwidth 14.9 Gbit/s
Max size 8 GB

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 uses the new LPDDR4x ram with the memory frequency of 2133MHz and uses the bus of 2×16. The ram may be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers, like XIAOMI, REALME, VIVO, etc. The memory frequency is also going to be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers. The max memory bandwidth is 14.9Gbit/s which is also faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 which was used in the Redmi note 10.

Support:

Neural processor (NPU) Hexagon 692
Storage type eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1, UFS 3.0
Max display resolution 2520 x 1080
Max camera resolution 1x 192MP, 2x 16MP
Video capture 4K at 30FPS
Video playback 4K at 30FPS

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 uses the hexagon 692 which is fast with the AI calculations. Snapdragon 690 uses the UFS 3.0 and 2.1 which is fast. This gives you fast read and writing speeds.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 has the maximum display support of FullHD+ and can support the 120hz refresh rate with the super Amoled. Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is going to be very aggressive when it comes to a camera support. It supports a camera up-to 192MP. The video capture is kept on 4k at 30FPS and the video playback is also 4k at 30FPS. There is no 8k support on this Qualcomm Snapdragon 690. It is a bit of a shame to see there is no 8k support on a 2022 mid-range smartphone.

Connectivity:

5G support Yes
Wi-Fi 6
Bluetooth 5.1

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 has 5G support. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 also comes with the wi-fi 6 and the Bluetooth version of 5.1. This will give you better signals and better speeds. Snapdragon 690 uses the Snapdragon X51 5G modem. It is not fast as the X65 but it gives you good speeds.

Smartphones

Phones with Snapdragon 690 AnTuTu v9
1. Sony Xperia 10 III 344821
2. OnePlus Nord N10 328236

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is launched in these 2 smartphones. As you can see these 3 smartphone scores are different. Sony Xperia 10 III is at the top. Which is a considerably great phone with this chipset.

Gaming Experience:

The gaming experience on this chipset is going to be a little faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. This chipset is combined with the 2 Big A77 cores, which boosts the performance. With 2 big Cortex A-77 cores, there are also going to be a few issues with heating. The frequency of this chipset is 2.4 GHz, which is good for long-term gaming. This chipset also supports the LPDDR4x ram. This means there will be no issues with using this chipset on a long-term gaming session. This chipset also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This will help in smooth performance with low latency. This chipset is can support PUBG MOBILE at 60FPS, this is because of the scores of the GPU.
