AMD Ryzen 5 2500U:
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is one of the fastest processors from AMD. This processor has some amazing features and specs. What makes this processor so powerful is its cache memories and its speeds. This processor has the same specs as the AMD Ryzen 9 2500 but you can’t overclock this processor. Also, this processor has a little low performance compared to the new AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX. This processor can be seen in new laptops on which I will make a complete article.
Cinebench R23:
Cinebench R23 (Single-Core) | 794 |
Cinebench R23 (Multi-Core) | 2846 |
For decent Gaming-Performance, you should make sure you are above 1000 Cinebench R23 Single-Core Points, and this processor just smashed the other processors in the new record-breaking scores of Cinebench R23 Single-Core 794. In 3D rendering the higher the Multi-Core Score. The better the performance you will see. Anything above 20k+ Multi-Core Points will boost the performance and will render complex scenes in less time. And this processor scores 2846. This will also help in gaming. As most of you will know that the more the single cores scores are the faster will it open and close the applications. The multicore will also help in rendering and gaming.
Geekbench 5:
Geekbench 5 (Single-Core) | 786 |
Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core) | 2722 |
Geekbench 5 Test system’s potential for gaming, image processing, and video editing with the Compute Benchmark. This also tests your GPU’s power with support for the CUDA, OpenCL, and Metal APIs. This processor scored the best in the Geekbench 5. This processor also beats some of the latest and most powerful processors The single-core scores are 786, and the multi-core scores are 2722. As you guys know. The higher the Geekbench 5 score the higher performance of the processor. Geekbench 5 score that is twice as high will mean the processor is twice as powerful. Ranking of single-core processors by Geekbench 5 score performance worldwide 2022.
Specifications:
Vendor | AMD |
Released | October 26, 2017 |
Type | Laptop |
instruction set | x86-64 |
Codename | Raven Ridge |
Socket | FP5 |
Integrated GPU | Radeon Vega 8 |
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is a Laptop processor produced by AMD. This processor supports the socket FP5 which is most the important fact of the new AMD Ryzen processors. This processor has 4 cores and 8 threads. The base clock frequency of the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is 2.0GHz, but with the new Turbo Boost technology, it can go up to 3.6GHz. The size of the L3 cache is a whopping 4MB. This processor also has integrated graphics which are Radeon Vega 8. The instruction set architecture is based on x64 and can support x86. As the x64 will make more bandwidth then this x64 will be the best choice. This processor is based on Zen + architecture which is 25% faster and more efficient than the old AMD architecture. The model number of this processor is Raven Ridge. This chip-integrated graphic is faster than some of the latest iGPU from intel. This processor was launched back in October 26, 2017.
Performance:
Cores | 4 |
Threads | 8 |
Base Frequency | 2.0 GHz |
Turbo Boost Frequency | 3.6 GHz |
Bus frequency | 100 MHz |
Multiplier | 20x |
L1 Cache | 128K (per core) |
L2 Cache | 512K (per core) |
L3 Cache | 4MB (shared) |
Unlocked Multiplier | No |
This processor has 4 cores and 8 threads with a base clock of 2.0GHz and, a boost clock of 3.6GHz. The bus frequency is 100MHz. which will help PCI lanes in terms of performance. This processor is also unlocked with a multiplier of 20x. This will help in overclocking this processor with the right amount of power consumption. This processor has the fastest L1, L2, and L3 cache memories. The L1 cache memory is 128K per core which means 4 cores have their own L1 cache memories. The L2 cache memory is also 512KB per core on 4 cores. The L3 cache memory is also 4MB which is also shared with the system. If you are looking for the best value processor, then this AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is the best choice. In terms of gaming, this processor performs very great with good compatibility with the Nvidia GPU and with the AMD GPU. In terms of video editing and graphics rendering this processor also shows the best performance. Because of its base clock of 2.0GHz and the boost clock of 3.6GHz. This processor can be more powerful if you chose the right motherboard for it. Because this processor can’t be overclocked. But I would say no to overclocking because 3.6GHz is enough for today’s gaming and editing. It’s cheap and fast which is good for gamers.
Power Consumption:
Transistors | 4.9 billions |
Fabrication process | 14 nm |
TDP | 15 W |
Max. temperature | 95°C |
There are more than 4.9 billion transistors. This processor is based on 14Nm process fabrication. The TDP shows 15W of power consumption. This processor can also be overclocked. So, you can increase the voltage in the motherboard interface if the motherboard supports the unlocked processors. The most amazing fact about this processor is that the max temperature support of this processor is 105C which is awesome. You can play games as long as you want and this will not affect the speeds or any thermal throttling issues if you have a good CPU cooler or water cooler. Sometimes when this processor takes a bunch of loaded applications then the processor increases the speeds of each core to the needs. This increases power consumption, thus making the CPU hotter. And is known for overheating so this will help in the state of the CPU performance and make it cooler.
Integrated GPU:
Integrated Graphics | Radeon Vega 8 |
GPU Base Clock | 300 MHz |
GPU Boost Clock | 1100 MHz |
Shading Units | 512 |
TMUs | 32 |
ROPs | 8 |
Execution Units | 8 |
TGP | 65 W |
Max. Resolution | 3840×2160 – 60 Hz |
Unlike the AMD Ryzen and intel F series processors, this processor also has integrated Graphics. AMD Ryzen 5 2500U has 512 shading units with a base clock of 300MHz and a boost clock of 1100MHz. The speeds are faster than some of the latest iGPU from Intel 8th gen processors. There are also 32 TMUs and 8 ROPs which will help in a performance increase. There are also 8 Execution units. The TGP shows only 65W of power consumption. What basically TMUs are, are texture mapping unit components in modern graphics processing units. It helps in rotating, resizing, etc. ROPs or (Raster operation pipelines) are the rendering output unit. This processor also has a powerful enough GPU that you can play some games on it like Call Of Duty Modern warfare 1, 2, 3, etc. the boost clock will help to stabilize the FPS in games. The iGPU is remain the same as all the Ryzen 2000 series. The video output of this iGPU is 4k on 60Hz.
Ram support:
Memory types | DDR4-2400 |
Memory Size | 32 GB |
Max. Memory Channels | 2 |
Max. Memory Bandwidth | 35.76 GB/s |
ECC Support | Yes |
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U can support the DDR4-3200 with a memory frequency of 2400MHz. The max memory support of this AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is 32GB of ram. The max memory channel support is 2 channels of Ram. The max memory bandwidth is above 35.76 GB/s which is incredibly fast. There is ECC support on this AMD Ryzen 5 2500U.
Gaming Experience:
This processor is a good option for gamers. Considering its capabilities, it performs well in almost any situation like editing, gaming, rendering, streaming, etc. There are more alternatives to this processor like core i7 8TH Gen and other AMD CPUs. In this processor, you got 4 cores, 8 threads, and a boost clock of 3.6GHz. This will play every game at high FPS with a good combination of Graphics card and Ram. You will see no issues in the performance unless there is a bottleneck. So, to avoid that, I will make complete another article on the best compatible Ram, storage, and GPU for this processor. Just let me know in the comment.
