MediaTek Helio G96:

Over the last few years, MediaTek is leading in the mobile chip market, but in 2020 the company has gone so far with the record-breaking new chipsets. We’ve seen some amazing chipsets like MediaTek Dimensity 1200, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 which tops the AnTuTu 9 benchmarks, and MediaTek Dimensity 920 was lunched in Realme 9 Pro Plus, and many more smartphones. Now we have the full specs and full complete details of the MediaTek Helio G96, let’s start off with the benchmarks.

AnTuTu 9:

CPU 96288
GPU 81608
Memory 61602
UX 93725
Total score 334857

MediaTek Helio G96 shows the best AnTuTu 9 scores. We can see a big jump in the GPU and CPU performance. The total performance of the GPU is 816081, which is slower than the MediaTek Helio G95. The CPU also shows one of the best scores. It is 96288 which is a bit slower than the Snapdragon 732G. The memory scores also shows a significant boost. Helio G96 memory is faster than Snapdragon 680, and Snapdragon 678. The Ux is also showing one of the best performances. It is 93725, which is faster than Snapdragon 680, and Snapdragon 678G. MediaTek Helio G96 total scores are above 334857. It will depend on which smartphone manufacturers using this chipset with which type of ram. MediaTek Helio G96 is considerably gaining performance boost and beating every processor in the Mid-rand category

Geekbench 5:

Single-Core Score 545
Multi-Core Score 1888

The single-core scores show the best performance in this smartphone mid-range category lineup. The single-core scores are 554. And the multi-core scores are 1888 which is also good at this point.

CPU:

Architecture 2x 2.055 GHz – Cortex-A76
6x 2 GHz – Cortex-A55
Cores 8
Frequency 2050 MHz
Instruction set ARMv8.2-A
Process 12 nanometers
TDP 5 W

MediaTek Helio G96 launched with the Big 2 cores of Cortex-A76 which are ultra-high performance cores that are clocked on 2.05 GHz. The other 6 cores is based on Cortex-A55 and clocked on 2GHz, which is a power efficiency core. There is a little disappointment that why they haven’t used the Cortex A77 or A78. But the Cortex-A76 also has the best speeds and good set instruction architecture. There are a total of 8 cores with a boost clock of 2.05 GHz. MediaTek Helio G96 has the latest set instruction architecture. It is not considered fast but it is strong enough to beat some of the latest and most powerful Chipsets. Helio G96 is fabricated on 12Nm. This means MediaTek Helio G96 will be not power efficient and will consume more battery and will produce more heat. The TDP shows 5 watts.

Graphics:

GPU name Mali G57 MC2
Architecture Valhall
GPU frequency 850 MHz
Execution units 2
Shading units 32
Vulkan version 1.1
OpenCL version 2.05
DirectX version 12

Helio G96 has a new architecture-based GPU. Valhall is the new architecture that they are using in the MediaTek Helio G96. The GPU is also manufactured using the 12Nm technology. Which means it will also be power efficient. The name of the GPU is Mali G57 MC2. This is the fastest GPU in this lineup. The MediaTek Helio G96 is fast enough to handle games like FREE FIRE, and PUBG MOBILE at high FPS. The GPU score is faster than the MediaTek Helio G96 which means there will be a smooth gaming experience on this chipset. The GPU is clocked on 850MHz. The shading units are also 32 which will help in rendering the graphics in gaming. There is also DirectX support of 12 which means this processor will support the latest games without any bugs and delays.

Memory:

Memory type LPDDR4X
Memory frequency 2133 MHz
Bus 2x 16 Bit
Max bandwidth 17.1 Gbit/s
Max size 10 GB

MediaTek Helio G96 uses the new LPDDR4x ram with the memory frequency of 2133MHz and uses the bus of 2×32. The ram may be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers, like XIAOMI, REALME, VIVO, etc. The memory frequency is also going to be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers. The max memory bandwidth is 17.1Gbit/s which is also faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 which was used in Realme 9i. The max memory of this chipset size is 10GB.

Support:

Neural processor (NPU) Yes
Storage type eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.2
Max display resolution 2520 x 1080
Max camera resolution 1x 108MP, 2x 16MP
Video capture 2K at 30FPS
Video playback 2K at 30FPS

MediaTek Helio G96 uses its own neural engine which is fast with the AI calculations. MediaTek Helio G96 uses the UFS 3.1 which is fast. This gives you fast read and writing speeds.

MediaTek Helio G96 has the maximum display support of FullHD+ and can support the 120Hz refresh rate with the super Amoled. Helio G96 is going to be very aggressive when it comes to camera support. It supports a camera up to 108MP. The video capture is kept on 2k at 30FPS and the video playback is also 2k at 30FPS. There is no 4K 60Fps support on this MediaTek Helio G96. Which is a bit of a shame to see there is no 4K 60Fps support on a 2022 mid-range Chipset.

Connectivity:

5G support No
Wi-Fi 5
Bluetooth 5.2

MediaTek Helio G96 has no 5G support. The MediaTek Helio G96 also comes with the wi-fi 5 and the Bluetooth version of 5.2. This will give you better signals and better speeds. Helio G96 uses its own 4G modem. It is not fast as the X25 but it gives you good speeds.

Gaming experience on this chipset is going to be a little faster than the MediaTek Helio G85. This chipset is combined with the 2 Big A76 cores, which boosts the performance. With 2 big Cortex A-76 cores, there are also going to be a few issues with heating. The frequency of this chipset is 2.05 GHz, which is good for long-term gaming. This chipset also support the LPDDR4x ram. This means there will be no issues with using this chipset in a long-term gaming session. This chipset also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This will help in smooth performance with low latency. This chipset is can support PUBG MOBILE at 60FPS, this is because of the scores of the GPU.
