Vivo iQOO 9 Pro:

So, this year we’ve seen amazing smartphones from Vivo with the recently launched Vivo iQOO 9, which is the fastest phone on this planet right now. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro launches with amazing features. So, let’s review it.

Display:

Type AMOLED
Size 6.78 inches

Aspect ratio 20:9

Refresh rate 120 Hz
HDR support Yes, HDR10+

The display of the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro is amazingly fast. Its 6.78 inches Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, and 1200 nits (peak) brightness display.  It is also Quad HD+ with a PPI density of 518, which makes the display brighter, powerful, power-efficient, and more color full. The gaming experience is also going to be very good because of its 120Hz display, and also the content watching will be brighter. Thanks to DCIP3 technology. There will be no issues using this display outside because of this 1200 nit’s brightness. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro is using the Super AMOLED panel. Which is good that can save more battery. The display is also protected by Tempered Glass. Which is strong enough to protect the phone. The protection is not as strong as the Gorilla Glass Victus. This display has the same specification as the last-gen Vivo iQOO 8 Pro has but a little different is in the brightness. This smartphone is more focusing on gaming rather than normal use.

DESIGN & BUILD:

Height 164.8 mm (6.49 inches)

Thickness 8.8 mm (0.35 inches)
Weight 204 gramm (7.2 oz)

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro has the most amazing design I’ve ever seen. With this new design, it looks more futuristic and stronger. The rear is made of glass. The frame is made of metal. There’s no IP68 water and dust resistance. But there is IP53 splash proof certification. In this Vivo iQOO 9 Pro, we got to see the better design and the better back. It’s protected by the metallic frame that’s why it makes it stronger. This smartphone weighs about 204 grams which is heavier but it makes this Vivo iQOO 9 Pro stronger. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with a display fingerprint sensor. Which are fast thanks to the ultrasonic sensor in display. I’m not a big fan of in-display fingerprint sensors but in this smartphone, it is fast and quick.

Now let’s talk about the performance of the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Which scores great on Antutu 9 benchmarks. It also makes the phone experience much smoother. The gaming experience is also going to be on another level. Thanks to a Super AMOLED display and 120 Hertz refresh rate with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Mali-G68 MC4 is one of the powerful GPUs in a Flagship phone, which makes the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro more powerful than other Flagship smartphones. You can play PUBG Mobile at a high frame rate thanks to the two big cores of Cortex A78. The two big cores of Cortex A78 are clocked on 2.5GHz which is fast for a Flagship chipset. This chipset is fabricated using 6NM which will also help to save battery and produce less heat. The GPU clock is 950MHz which is also fast and will be power efficient. The L3 caches memory is 2MB which is fast.

MEMORY AND STORAGE:

RAM size 8, 12 GB
Memory type LPDDR5

Channels 2
Storage size 256, 512 GB
Storage type UFS 3.1
Memory card No

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with two variants of ram 8GB and 12GB Ram that’s amazing giving 12GB of ram with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The ram is based on LPDDR5 which is clocked on 2750MHz, the ram is 2 channels. Which is not fast as the 4 channel but still strong enough. There is also two storage options. The based one is 128GB and the high variant have 256GB of storage. The storage is based on UFS 3.1 which is the fastest in these Flagship phones. This will give you high read and write speeds. There is no SD card support. But the fact that this smartphone comes with 265GB of storage, so there is no need for one.

Benchmarks:

Geekbench 5:

Single Core 1227
Multi core 3698

Now let’s talk about the benchmarks. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has good CPU scores in the Geekbach 5. The single-core score is 1227. Which is quite impressive when it comes to single-core performance. Also, the multi-core is 3698. Which is a lot faster than the last-gen MediaTek Dimensity 800. The single-core performance is good. This means the application opening will be faster and quicker. The multi-core scores are also good. This can hold applications in the background for a long time. And it won’t affect the speeds.

Antutu 9 Benchmarks

CPU 227364
GPU 436649
Memory 159015
UX 152775
Total score 939916

Now let’s talk about the Antutu 9 scores. The GPU is greatly optimized and has good scores, which is 436649 for a Flagship smartphone. The GPU is a lot faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus. The CPU scores are 227364. Which are faster than the last-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus and HiSilicon Kirin 9000. The CPU scores great thanks to the 4NM fabricator. The CPU is also have good architecture based on big Cortex X2 cores. The memory also scores great. Which is 159015. The UX scores 152775. Which is fast enough to handle the dynamic refresh rate of the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro. This processor can support the screen refresh rate at 120Hz. So, the UX also shows the best scores for a Flagship Processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 scores more than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus and HiSilicon Kirin 9000 in the Antutu 9 benchmarks in the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro.

Software:

Operating system Android 12
ROM Funtouch OS 12

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with Android 12 support. Which is more efficient and more powerful than Android 10. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro also comes with a Funtouch OS 12, which is their own custom UI. It is much smoother than the Funtouch OS 11.

When it comes to charging. This phone can support fast charging of 120 watts. It is quite impressive that this phone can charge fully in 21 minutes. There is also fast wireless charging support of 50watts. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with a 4700Mah battery. Which is just enough for daily usage. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro has a full day battery on a single charge it can live long up to a day.

MAIN CAMERA:

1080p video recording Up to 60FPS
Slow motion 960 FPS (720p)

Now let’s talk about the Camera. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro. comes with a triple camera setup. The main camera is 50 megapixel F/1.9. There is also a telephoto lens of 2.5x. There is also an ultra-wide lens of 150 degrees. This is a pretty amazing Camera setup which means the photos will contain more details. The is video support is 8K at 30 FPS, 4K at 60 FPS, and 1080P 60FPS. The videos will contain more details and will be sharper thanks to its chipset. There is optical image stabilization on the telephoto lens and on the main lens. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro. Also supported the slow-motion 720p at 960 FPS. This sensor is sharp and big. That collects more light at night thus making it the best camera. The angle view of the ultra-wide is 150 degrees. Which is also called a fish eye camera because it covers a lot of areas..

Lenses:

wide (main) lens – 50 MP
– Aperture: f/1.8
– Sensor: 1/1.57″, Samsung GN5 (ISOCELL Plus CMOS)
– Phase autofocus
– Optical stabilization
Telephoto lens – 16 MP
– Aperture: f/2.2
– Focal length: 60 mm
– Sensor: 1/3.1″, Samsung S5K3P9 (ISOCELL CMOS)
– Phase autofocus
– Optical stabilization
Ultra-wide lens – 50 MP
– Aperture: f/2.3
– Focal length: 15 mm
– Sensor: 1/2.76″, Samsung S5KJN1 (ISOCELL CMOS)
– Phase autofocus
Camera features – Bokeh mode
– Pro mode
– RAW support

The main sensor is 50MP. Which is Samsung GN5. Samsung GN5 sensor can be seen in a lot of smartphones Flagships like the Samsung S22, Samsung S22 Plus, and Vivo iQOO 9. The main camera saves 12.5-megapixel images by default. These are all right with enough detail for this class and true to life colors the dynamic range is good. However, these photos are ideal with less noise and great sharpening, and some less softness. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro doesn’t have a depth sensor like the other flagship does model does, but that’s no problem portraits are excellent with detailed and sharp subjects and good separation. This sensor is brighter and big. Thanks to the aperture f/1.9. This sensor can take stronger portrait shots and can take great shots at nighttime because it’s combined with a wider aperture. This sensor is very good at maintaining a good dynamic range in harsh conditions. This sensor is also good at taking very amazing portraits with strong bokeh and good depth of field. At night the main cam takes good low-light photos. There is enough detail realistic-looking exposure and well-preserved colors. The noise is handled well too night mode photos are sharper with more resolved detail and, you get a wider dynamic range with restored highlights, and develop shadows while the exposure is slightly brighter. The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro doesn’t turn night and day but can take the best night shots. It is a 50MP sensor so, combining that with the great software can result in the best in smartphone photography. The autofocus in this camera sensor is incredibly fast. The sensor is dual pixel. Overall the sensor is big, bright, and powerful.

There is a Telephoto lens of 16Mp. Which is Samsung S5K3P9. This is also a great sensor considering its capabilities. The 16-megapixel Telephoto photos are ok for this price range. But nothing great you get enough contrast and wide dynamic range but they come out soft with a low level of detail and the colors are a bit off. In harsh lighting conditions, this camera sensor suffers a lot because of its aperture which is only f/2.2. This sensor cannot take enough light to take good shots at night. The 8-megapixel ultra-wide photos taken at night time are not really usable.  They’re incredibly dark and noisy. In the video, this camera sensor has a lot of noise. Which is very annoying. You can’t use this ultra-wide camera at night time because it will contain so much grain and noise in the videos and pictures. The sensor aperture is F/2.2 which cannot collect more light at night time and thus can take average shots at night time with more noise.

There is also an ultra-wide lens of 50Mp. Which is Samsung S5KJN1. This sensor also has one of the best autofocus. This sensor can take good detailed shots with a wide field of view. The aperture of this lens is f/2.3 which is bright enough to take good shots at night time. This sensor can capture 150 degrees of angle view. With the combination of good software, it’s a very capable camera sensor.

These camera sensors can take good shots with amazing details, and amazing sharpness. The main lens also has optical image stabilization on all of the cameras which perform a good job while taking photos or making videos.

SELFIE CAMERA:

Megapixels 16 megapixels
Image resolution 4608 x 3456
Aperture f/2.5
Sensor type ISOCELL CMOS
Sensor size 1/3.1″
Video resolution 1080p (Full HD) at 30 FPS

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro has a 16-megapixel Selfie Camera. It is good on the phone but, I’m so disappointed to see that there is no 4K recording on the Selfie Camera. Their recording is only kept on 108p up to 30 FPS. But considering this Selfie Camera is 16 megapixels. This means it will contain more details. It’s also F/2.5. So, that makes it not brighter enough at night time. Taking photos at night time will be a big issue for the sensor.

Connectivity:

Wi-Fi standard Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
Bluetooth version 5.2
USB type USB Type-C
USB version 2
NFC* Yes
Infrared port Yes

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with Wi-Fi 6 with the Bluetooth version of 5.2. Which contains more speed and a better coverage area. Thanks for the Wi-Fi 6. It gives you a better upload and download speed. There is also an NFC port. Which is quite useful for today’s technology. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes with the USB type C 2.0, which makes Charging faster and more efficient

Network:

Number of SIM* 2
Type of SIM card Nano
Multi SIM mode Standby
eSIM support* No
Hybrid slot Yes
LTE Cat* 20
5G support Yes

Vivo iQOO 9 Pro also has 5G support with the best bandwidth. This smartphone also has the support of LTE Cat 18 which contains a lot of bandwidth which makes the download speeds and upload speeds faster. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro can support dual Sims at 5G. There is no Esim support. But we do get the Hybrid slot. The download and upload speeds are also great thanks to the latest modem of this Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

SOUND:

Speakers Stereo
Headphone audio jack No

Vivo iQOO 9 Pro doesn’t have a headphone jack. It’s a Flagship smartphone so, it has Stereo speakers with Dolby atoms support. The speakers sound well. You can listen to music and can take calls with these speakers. It’s also supported by Dolby atmos which makes the sound experience on another level. The speaker has a nice amount of bass in the sound. You can feel the beat with the nice sound. There are two-speaker one at the bottom and another at the top. The top speaker is also used to take calls. The sound quality of the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro is A+.

Colors:

Colors White, Black

The Vivo iQOO 9 Pro comes in two colors. There is White and Black. I personally like the black color, because it gives a natural look to the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro. There are three colors available on this smartphone. But I know everyone is going to put a case on the back of the Vivo iQOO 9 Pro.

Final Thoughts:

Considering this phone for gaming and for daily heavy usage then it’s a good option. Vivo iQOO 9 Pro is rich in specs. It has an amazing display with a new design with a bigger battery and with whapping 120 watts of fast charging. The performance of this smartphone is also great thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This processor contains big two cores of Cortex X2. Which makes the performance of this smartphone to the next level. I highly recommend this phone to buy if you are looking for a good budget smartphone.
