MediaTek Helio G99 Complete review with benchmarks

Introduction:

MediaTek Helio G99 Complete review- MediaTek just launched another Midrange processor, with new architecture, new cores, high clock speeds, and much more. So today I’m going to give you its full review, with some new benchmarks.

MediaTek Helio G99

MediaTek Helio G99:

Over the last few years, MediaTek is leading in the mobile chip market, but in 2020 the company went so far with record-breaking new chipsets. We’ve seen some amazing chipsets like MediaTek Dimensity 1200, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus which tops the AnTuTu 9 benchmarks, MediaTek Dimensity 920 which was launched in Realme 9 Pro Plus, and many more smartphones. Now we have the full specs and full complete details of the MediaTek Helio G99, let’s start off with the benchmarks.

AnTuTu 9:

We don’t have any test results of this chipset on the AnTuTu 9 benchmarks, when we fully check this chipset we will publish another article on this. So stay tuned.

Geekbench 5:

We don’t have any tests results of this chipset on the Geekbench 5 benchmarks, when we fully check this chipset we will publish another article on this. So stay tuned.

CPU:

Architecture 2x 2.2 GHz – Cortex-A76
6x 2 GHz – Cortex-A55
Cores 8
Frequency 2200 MHz
Instruction set ARMv8.2-A
Process 6 nanometers

MediaTek Helio G99 launched with the Big 2 cores of Cortex-A76 which are ultra-high performance cores that are clocked on 2.2 GHz. The other 6 cores is based on Cortex-A55 and clocked on 2GHz, which is a power efficiency core. There is a little disappointment that why they haven’t used the Cortex A77 or A78. But the Cortex-A76 also has the best speeds and good set instruction architecture. There are total of 8 cores with a boost clock of 2.2 GHz. MediaTek Helio G99 has the latest set instruction architecture. It is not considered fast but it is strong enough to beat some of the latest and most powerful Chipsets. MediaTek Helio G99 is fabricated on 6Nm. This means Helio G99 will be not power efficient and will consume more battery and will produce more heat. The TDP shows 5 watts.

Graphics:

GPU name Mali-G57 MC2
Architecture Valhall
Execution units 2
Shading units 32
Vulkan version 1.1
OpenCL version 2.0
DirectX version 12

MediaTek Helio G99 has a new architecture-based GPU. Valhall is the new architecture that they are using in the MediaTek Helio G99. The GPU is also manufactured using the 12Nm technology. Which means it will also be power efficient. The name of the GPU is Mali G57 MC2. This is the fastest GPU in this lineup. The Helio G99 is fast enough to handle games like FREEFIRE, PUBG MOBILE at high FPS. The GPU score is faster than the MediaTek Helio G99 which means there will be a smooth gaming experience on this chipset. The GPU is clocked on 850MHz. The shading units are also 32 which will help in rendering the graphics in gaming. There is also DirectX support of 12 which means this processor will support the latest games without any bugs and delays.

Memory:

Memory type LPDDR4X
Memory frequency 4266 MHz
Bus 2x 16 Bit
Max bandwidth 17.1 Gbit/s
Max size 10 GB

MediaTek Helio G99 uses the new LPDDR4x ram with the memory frequency of 4266MHz and uses the bus of 2×32. The ram may be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers, like XIAOMI, REALME, VIVO, etc. The memory frequency is also going to be changed according to the smartphone manufacturers. The max memory bandwidth is 17.1Gbit/s which is also faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 which was used in Realme 9i. The max memory of this chipset size is 10GB.

Support:

Neural processor (NPU) Yes
Storage type UFS 2.2
Max display resolution 2520 x 1080
Max camera resolution 1x 108MP, 2x 16MP
Video capture 2K at 30FPS
Video playback 2K at 30FPS
Video codecs H.264, H.265, VP9
Audio codecs AAC, AIFF, CAF, MP3, MP4, WAV

MediaTek Helio G99 uses its own neural engine which is fast with AI calculations. MediaTek Helio G99 uses the UFS 2.1 which is fast. This gives you fast reading and writing speeds.

MediaTek Helio G99 has the maximum display support of FullHD+ and can support the 120Hz refresh rate with the super Amoled. Helio G99 is going to be very aggressive when it comes to a camera support. It supports a camera up to 108MP. The video capture is kept on 2k at 30FPS and the video playback is also 2k at 30FPS. There is no 4K 60Fps support on this Helio G99. Which is a bit of a shame to see there is no 4K 60Fps support on a 2022 mid-range Chipset.

Connectivity:

4G support LTE Cat. 13
5G support No
Wi-Fi 5
Bluetooth 5.2

MediaTek Helio G99 has no 5G support. The Helio G99 also comes with wi-fi 5 and the Bluetooth version of 5.2. This will give you better signals and better speeds. Helio G99 uses its own 4G modem. It is not fast as the X25 but it gives you good speeds.

Smartphones

There is no smartphone released with this Chipset.

Gaming Experience:

The gaming experience on this chipset is going to be a little faster than the MediaTek Helio G95. This chipset is combined with the 2 Big A76 cores which boost performance. With 2 big Cortex A-76 cores, there are also going to be a few issues with heating. The frequency of this chipset is 2.2 GHz, which is good for long-term gaming. This chipset also supports the LPDDR4x ram. This means there will be no issues with using this chipset on a long-term gaming session. This chipset also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This will help in smooth performance with low latency. This chipset is can support PUBG MOBILE at 60FPS, this is because of the scores of the GPU.
